Grant Doesnt Respect Ghanaians - Polo

Former Ghana forward Mohammed Polo is the latest to lash out at Black Stars coach Avram Grant for the latter’s continuous insistence on monitoring players abroad at the expense of the local topflight.

The Israeli has had a love-hate relationship with the local media, which have constantly accused him of not giving home-based players adequate attention.

For his part, Grant insists, the Ghana Premier League is short of quality, as outstanding players keep moving abroad from the domestic league.

“I think Avram Grant doesn’t respect Ghanaians,” Polo told Montie FM.

“One of the reasons why he is paid is for him to come down to monitor our local football. But this man has taken his own decisions and he is giving us his own excuses.

“How can he say he can’t stay here because players are moving outside Ghana? Can you stop a player from moving, even in Europe?

“The movement of players is part of football. This does not mean we don’t have good players in Ghana.”

Grant is currently on holiday in the United Kingdom after holding a press conference on Monday to mark the end of his first year as Ghana boss.

The Israeli’s reign began in December 2014, signing a three-year contract which expires in January 2017.

In February, he led Ghana to clinch silver at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea.
