National Best Farmer To Establish Centre Of Excellence

Mr Ibrahim Musa alias, ‘Macho’, the National Best Farmer, has said he intends to establish a Centre of Excellence on his four acre land situated between Kofiasua and Sromani in the Dormaa Central Municipality.

He said the Centre would serve as a place of excellence to foster good agricultural practices among school children.

Mr Musa said the rationale behind the project is to change the negative perception on agriculture, as held by majority of the youth, and alter their orientation about agriculture as an occupation reserved for uneducated persons.

Mr Musa said this during a durbar organized by the Dormaa Municipal Assembly to honour him for emerging as the National Best Farmer during the 31st National Farmers Day held at Bolgatanga.

The durbar was also to recognize and acknowledge him for his generous and significant contribution to the Assembly and helping to project the image of Dormaa – Ahenkro and the Brong – Ahafo Region as a whole.

The durbar was attended by traditional rulers, heads of departments, some members of the security agencies, best farmers in the municipality both new and old winners, assembly members, staff of the Dormaa Municipal Assembly, Dormaa Poultry Farmers Association and the public.

Mr Musa, a native of Kofiasua, a suburb of Dormaa – Ahenkro, was accompanied by his wife, relatives, friends and other well wishers to the durbar ground, said what inspired him in his efforts was determination, hard work and a tenacity of purpose.

Mr Gordon Kwaku Asubonteng, the Dormaa Municipal Chief Executive, praised the National Best Farmer saying his contribution to society have been meaningful as it transcends beyond the borders of agriculture to include advancing the development agenda of the Municipal Assembly.

He said by undertaking to roof and painting the Circuit Court Office Building as well as painting the veterinary services office building all in Dormaa – Ahenkro, the National Best Farmer, was indeed a role model for the society.

He called on well-meaning citizens of Dormaa to emulate his example.
