Car Affordability And Insurance Costs Boost Used Car Sales

What reasons do potential buyers have for choosing used cars in Ghana? In the Carmudi white paper detailing the Automotive Industries of the Emerging Markets, the research team has found that 65% of the asked consumers planned to buy a new or used car in the next 24 months, with Asia’s auto demand standing at 72%.

In order to find out what motives stand behind this considerable demand for used cars, Carmudi, the best way to sell and buy your car online, has set out to survey selected buyers for its global markets. The survey presented a range of reasons for opting for a used car, ranging from purchase prices, to concerns about environmental health.

For more than 80% potential car shoppers in Ghana asked, the most important benefit of buying a used model is the lower purchase price. Lower insurance costs (44%), as well as easier financing (32%) also rank high on the priorities of Carmudi GH browsers. The focus on affordability is affected by a recent spike in insurance rates that has affected the majority Ghanaian vehicle owners.

The priorities of Ghanaian buyers differ slightly to the global priorities of Carmudi browsers. Those surveyed across all of the markets opt out more for price affordability as the biggest advantage (62%), with smaller depreciation (42%) and lower maintenance costs (25%) following suit. What makes Carmudi GH shoppers stand out from their counterparts in other emerging markets is a higher interest in easier financing, as well as lower registration fees, with over 29% agreeing.
