Faisal pip Hearts 1-0 in Top 4 tournament

Kumasi-based King Faisal Babies played a determined game on Wednesday to beat Accra Hearts of Oak 1-0 in their second leg MTN/GHALCA Top 4 Tournament played at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi. The goal came in the 60th minute through substitute Emmanuel Odoi when he connected home a cross from Shadrack Dodzie to beat goalkeeper Laud Quartey in a goalmouth melee. Quartey in a minute earlier had saved a shot at goal from Abu Naaba in the vital area of Hearts. Hearts started the match on a fast note and nearly took the lead in the first minute but Don Borteys shot ended in a corner but was wasted. Douglas Nkrumah also squandered another opportunity in the ninth minute. With the heat on them, Faisal gradually came into the picture and in the 31st minute Osei Bonsus shot at goal hit a defender and went to corner but that was wasted. Hearts took control again and came close to scoring but the chances that came were wasted by Don Bortey and Douglas Nkrumah in the 33rd and 40th minutes respectively. Eric Gawu got injured in the 43rd minute and was replaced by Gilbri Fiamenyo in the 46th minute of the game. King Faisal later brought in Odoi for Abedi Sarfo in the 55th minute and Frank Acheampong for Clement Coffie which paid-off for them as they scored in the 60th minute through Odoi. Faisal, playing with ease at this stage nearly made it 2-0 in the 65th minute but a lob from Prince Arko from the left flank rolled on the cross bar with goalkeeper Quartey stretching full length to parry it into play. Hearts made series of forays with Don Bortey and substitute Fiamenyo but the defence of Faisal would not bulge thus bringing proceedings to an end.
