Kpando Beat Kotoko

Kpando Heart of Lions took a giant step closer to winning the MTN Top4 competition beating Kumasi Asante Kotoko by 2 goals to 1 at the Ohene Djan Sports Stadium in Accra. The Kpando lads drew first blood in the 26th minute through diminutive striker Kofi Nti Boakye when he flicked a Tanko Mohammed cross with the outside of his foot, beating goal keeper Isaac Amoako in the process. The Porcupine Warriors without coach Herbert Addo looked a disjointed side, ill-poised for victory and were terrible upfront. In the 46th minute Daniel Nii Adjei in what may well be the miss of the tournament, shot inches wide with a yawning net staring at him. That typified the story of the Kotoko side even in the second half. Daniel Akwei increased the tally for the resilient Kpando side when headed home a free-kick which ensured that Stephen Manu's late header was only a mere consolation. Lions now have ten points from four games and need only a point to be crowned as champions. Their closest contenders, Accra Hearts of Oak were also handed a painful 0-1 defeat by Kumasi King Faisal at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium. Faisal now has seven points, Hearts six, with Kotoko languishing at the bottom of the table with no point.
