Lions, Faisal Take Charge Of Top-4

Asante Kotoko's poor run continued on match-day-4 in the Top-4 tourney as the Kumasi-based side recorded their fourth defeat in a row Wednesday night. Heart of Lions made it a double over the Porcupine Warriors at the Ohene Djan Stadium as they open a three-point lead at the top with two matches to go. A Kofi Nti-Boakye strike in the first half and an own goal by Ofosu Appiah from a corner kick in the second half condemned Kotoko to defeat as Stephen Manu's late goal did little to help them avert the painful loss. The win by Lions confirms their off-season superiority over the former champions. Kotoko entered Wednesday's game without coach Herbert Addo who was asked the club's management to stay off the team as reports indicate that his contract talks has stalled. Still bottom of the table, Asante Kotoko have completed 360 minutes with no point to their credit after four matches as they play city rivals, King Faisal in Kumasi on Sunday. King Faisal boosted their hopes ahead of the clash with Kotoko with an important 1-0 win over Hearts of Oak at the Baba Yara Stadium. Emmanuel Addo scored in the second half to end Hearts' impressive form in their two last matches. The Phobians will return to Accra to play Heart of Lions over the weekend.
