Overcome Extravagance And Obsession With Wealth

The Four Garrison District Minister of the Church of Pentecost, the Reverend Collins Agyepong, has asked Ghanaians to overcome extravagance and obsession with wealth as they joined billions of Christians across the world to celebrate Christmas.

He said the simple life led by Christ should inspire everybody to be humble and modest.

Delivering the sermon at a Christmas service in Kumasi, he underlined the need to show love, care and empathy for the poor, the weak and the vulnerable.

He asked that they rejected anything evil, immoral, toxic and undignified to make the society a better place to live.

The Rev Agyepong told the congregation that the commemoration of the birth of the Messiah was not an occasion just for only merry making but renewal of their faith.

It should also provide the opportunity for sober reflection and restoration - to get right with their acts and conduct.

At the Brotherhood Church at Suntreso in Kumasi, the Spiritual Head, Primate S.K. Adofo, admonished Christians to lead pious lives – be pure in heart and show goodwill and love to their neighbors.

They should not be powerless in the control of corruption, selfishness and petty gossips.

He said it was important for them to perfect their ways to become a positive influence on the rest of the society.

Primate Adofo urged them to continue to be firm in their faith in the face of challenges and trials.

They should also remain hopeful of a better future and refuse to give in to cynicism.
