�Empower The Youth For Sustainable Development�

The National Democratic Congress  parliamentary candidate for the the Trobo Constituency in the Greater Accra Region, Maame Efua Sekyi-Aidoo, has entreated parents to support their children’s education for a sustainable manpower development in all sectors of the economy.

“Supporting our children’s education as individuals, and training the youth in acquiring skills have been my passion, and I entreat all stakeholders to focus on that,” she explained.

Ms Sekyi-Aidoo made the remarks during an interview with the Daily Graphic last Wednesday in Accra.
 

As an aspiring legislator, she said she was passionate about education; building the capacity of the youth and the elderly, and lobbying for construction of roads in her constituency.

Considering education, she said: “It is my aim to get 100 children to be enrolled at the basic level;  so far achieved I support 40 pupils.”

“If you adopt children at age six and assist them in their basic education, the benefit goes to the state.”

Ms Sekyi-Aidoo said her outfit would liaise with corporate and benevolent entities to assist women by providing them with credit facilities to complement their business.

“I seem to have many skills in that area owing to my background as a businesswoman,” she said.

Trobo

The constituency, she explained, had road network challenges and so appealed to the government to assist them by constructing and rehabilitating roads there.

The constituency seat is currently occupied by a New Patriotic Party Member of Parliament, Mr Moses Anim, who won with more than 19,000 votes in the 2012 general election.

Nonetheless, Ms Sekyi-Aidoo was resolute to annex the seat from the incumbent, having won the primaries with 65 per cent votes among four contenders.
