Kofi Sarpong And Kwadjo Nkansah Lilwin Cause A Stir At Ghana Movie Awards

The 2015 edition of Ghana Movie Awards happened at the Accra International Conference Center on December 30 and as usual, the stars paraded at the event to witness it.

There could be no Ghana Movie Awards without red carpet session so most celebrities who attended the awards were on the red carpet to showcase their costumes.

Among all the stars who graced the red carpet at the event, It appears that Gospel musician, Spt. Kofi Sarpong has received most negative comments about the outfit he wore to the red carpet.

The strongest of all the criticisms is from President and Chairman of Euro Star, Oscar Yao Doe who commented on celebrity gossip and paparazzi website Nkonkonsa.com's official Instagram page, when the site shared a combined picture of Kofi Sarpong and Lilwin on the red carpet at the event.

According to Mr. Oscar Yao Doe, what the award-winning gospel musician wore to the event is not acceptable on red carpet. Making these criticisms on Instagram, he said organisers of the show should not have allowed Spt. Kofi Sarpong to appear on the red carpet due to his short pants.

Oscar gave thumps up to Kumawood Star Kojo Nkansa Liwin for his traditional wear to the event.

"Remove the gentleman with short pants from the post! It’s not acceptable to wear a short pants to a red carpet event! Lewis Hamilton was denied an entry into 2015 Wenbledon tennis final because he didn’t meet the dressing Protocol requirement and he apologise to the organisers later.

Such events are very important to express showbiz through Art & Culture/Fashion & Style With Elegance! It’s one of the important platform for which Actors are appreciated by the public base on their unique appearance on the Red Carpet! So it’s a serious platform for showbiz".

However, when Mr. Oscar was asked about Lilwin outfit on the night this was what he had to say.

"Lilwin dress code met all red carpet Protocol requirement it was purely Ghanaian traditional wear(white Kente cloth) which is highly revered in our society, off course he added a little bit of drama which makes it more colourful

we need to encourage ourselves to create something special for our nation in every aspect of our endeavour especially the art industry & hospitality industry".
