I am The Most Dedicated Black Stars Player...

Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan says he is the most dedicated Black Stars player in  the current crop of players for the national team.

Gyan has been the most criticized Black Stars player over the last decade since making his debut for the Black Stars in 2005 in a World Cup qualifier against Somalia.

The former Sunderland and Udinese attacker nearly retired in 2008 after being criticized heavily for missing a penalty in the Afcon hosted by Ghana.

The Shanghai SIPG striker again missed a penalty when Ghana had almost qualified for her first ever semi final appearance in the 2010 World Cup when Luiz Suarez handled the ball with a few seconds to end the game.

The excessive criticism compelled the highly rated Black Stars striker to stay away from penalty kicks even as the captain of the team.

But despite all these challenges, the striker has matured to become the highest scoring player of the Black Stars with 48 goals out of 95 appearances.

And Gyan claims that he is the most dedicated Black Stars player.

“For me, I am the most dedicated player in the Black Stars. Nobody has been dedicated in the national team more than me."

“During the 2010 World Cup in South Africa at the knock out stage against USA I was very sick, I was down with Malaria, the doctor warned me not to go but I ignored him because I want to play for Ghana and in the game I scored the winning goal,” Gyan said.
