Samuel Inkoom Joins Antalyaspor

The Ghana defender has committed his future to the Antalya-based club until 2018.

Ghana defender Samuel Inkoom has finally joined Turkish side Antalyaspor in a two-year deal after a successful medical at a ceremony with Antalyaspor chairman Gultekin Gencer.

The 26-year-old right-back becomes the Super Lig club's second major signing of the week after they announced the appointment of former Chelsea assistant coach Jose Morais as new manager on Wednesday.

Morais took over from Cameroonian legend Samuel Eto’o, who acted as a player manager for five games following the sacking of Yusuf Simsek.

Inkoom’s career took a nosedive after his move to DC United in Major League Soccer proved to be unsuccessful, subsequently cancelling the deal to join Portuguese club Boavista seven months ago.

Inkoom previously had stints with Ukrainian side Dnipro before joining French club Bastia in 2013 and Platanias of Greece in 2014 both in a loan deal.

A member of Ghana’s historic Fifa Under-20 World Cup winning team in 2009, the versatile defender was selected by then Black Stars coach Milovan Rajevac for the 2010 Africa Cup of Nations in Angola and the 2010 Fifa World Cup in South Africa.

Antalyaspor currently sit 11 on the Turkish Super Lig ladder after 17 matches.
