Obiri Boahen Takes EC Boss & Asiedu Nketiah To The Cleaners

The Deputy General Secretary of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Obiri Boahen has lashed out at the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC), Charlotte Osei and the General Secretary of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Asiedu Nketiah for being ignorant about the law.

He alleged that Mr. Nketiah lacks knowledge on issues relating to the Togolese register.

‘As matured minds...if the Togolese say that for security reasons they cannot confirm whether some of their names are in Ghana’s voters’ register or not, does it make it fake?. With all his experience he cannot differentiate between fake and original?’ he asked

Asked if the EC is right to say that it is an attempt on the part of NPP to deceive Ghanaians, he fumed ‘there is no sense in this, a 9-month-old born will not say this’.

He said it would be wrong for anybody to suggest that the Vice Presidential Candidate of NPP, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia be arrested.

‘There is no sense for anybody to say that Dr. Bawumia should be arrested,’ he raged.

According to him, Dr. Bawumia’s documents presented to the court were admissible; saying admissible in evidence but the probative value placed on the documents by the court is a different thing.

He stressed that the fact that the court did not place probative value on the document does not make it fake in law or in common sense.

‘Asiedu Nketiah doesn’t have this sense, and he’s being followed blindly by others. No wonder he’s saying that Dr. Bawumia should be arrested, he’s ignorant of the law, he lacks knowledge,’ he said.

He observed that all the Supreme Court Judges who ruled on the 2012 election petition admitted that there were some procedural irregularities in the elections.

‘Asiedu Nketiah hasn’t read the judgement on the election petition,’ he alleged.

Speaking on Nhyira FM, the Deputy General Secretary of NPP explained that it behoves on the EC as a legal entity to take actions if a political party makes allegations.

Turning his insults further on the EC, he said the integrity of the EC’s Boss is questionable.

‘I have witnessed so many operations of ECs, but Charlotte Osei’s kind of operation is questionable, she is creating problems for her integrity, for this country and for herself,’ he pointed out.

He blamed the EC Boss for refusing to write to the NPP when she wrote a letter to the Togolese to confirm or deny the names in the register.

‘I feel bitter about the EC’s Boss, Charlotte Osei’s action on this matter, I don’t want to use unpalatable words on anyone, my own children will not even behave like this. Charlotte Osei nearly became a Supreme Court Judge, if a political party brings you documents from Togo, the common sense approach which I believe my kids will go by is, if you write to Togo asking them to confirm or deny, common sense approach which is common to every reasonable level headed person is you equally write a letter to the NPP party as well. Do you understand what am saying?’ he quizzed.
