Dont Increase Transport Fares Till - TFRC

The Transport Fares Review Committee has asked road transport operators not to increase fares until further notice.

A statement issued Thursday by the committee, signed by General Secretary of the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU), Issah Musah Khaleepha and the Acting General Secretary of the Ghana Road Transport Coordinating Council (GRTCC), Andrew Kwesi Kwakye, said a meeting of the committee agreed to meet again and subsequently communicate its decision to all transport operators and the general public.

The Transport Fares Review Committee reviews transport fares bi-annually - January and June every year, and according to the committee, “This will enable other components that go into the running of commercial road transport services to be taken into consideration.”

The statement after requesting transport operators to maintain the current fares until further notice, also asked for the cooperation of all transport operators, commuters and the general public.
