Mahama Is Haunted By His Failure - Awuku

The National Youth Organizer of the New Patriotic Party, Sammy Awuku has described the three years of President Mahama’s reign as the worse in the history of the country.

According to him, no government has been as poor as President Mahama and history will therefore remember him in this respect.

President Mahama marked his first three years in office yesterday with the nation starkly divided on the kind of rating befitting him.

Whereas many feel the country’s increasing economic woes is continuing without a glimpse of light at the end of the tunnel, many believe that the infrastructural development and provision of portable water in various communities across the country deserves commendation and balances his failure to wrestle the economy.

However, speaking in an exclusive interview with Ghnews360.com, Sammy Awuku indicated that with the historic high loan acquisition and unprecedented tax revenue generated over the past three years, a shrewd leader would have done five times of what the NDC Government under President Mahama has done so far.

He added that “President Mahama’s tenure will be remembered because of massive corruption, over-bloated contracts, fall of the cedi, dumsor, unemployment, high cost of living and above all incompetence."

“The President himself knows he has been a massive failure because he comes short of all the indicators for judging smart leaders."

“For instance, If we vote for an illiterate today, he/she will by all means construct roads, build hospitals, build schools and what have you, but these are not indicators for assessing governments in the 21st century because just as President Mahama himself said in 2008, they are exercises in mediocrity."

“A serious and a smart president will talk about: National health insurance, Capitation Grant, National Youth Employment Program, and improvement of the education system; but Mahama’s government can only talk about roads, school buildings, hospitals which in reality cost five times more than they should and everything which does not require competence.”

He alleged that the main achievement in the past three years has been enriching those within the corridors of power and impoverishing the good people of Ghana.

“This government has failed, and the President knows it deep within: he is haunted on a daily basis by the extent to which the task has overwhelmed him- he is the worse president in the history of this nation,” he concluded.
