Statement: The Murder Of Adam Kobilla

PRESS BRIEFING ON THE MURDER OF ADAM KOBILLA 06TH SEPTEMBER 2009 BAWKU Media friends, ladies and gentlemen, we the children of Mr. Adam Kobilla wish to use your medium to highlight our deepest concern and anxiety about the unfortunate murder in cold blood of our father Adam who was killed by the military personnel in Bawku on the command of captain Frank of the ABF detachment in Bawku. Our dear father was murdered just in front of his house before our very eyes for no apparent reason by officers of the Ghana Armed Forces working in Bawku. It is our considered opinion that our father, who happen to be a citizen of the republic of Ghana was shot on target unprovoked by the military personnel under the authority of captain Frank who had chased him away from his family house where he was sitting with family members. He was running home against the background of an uneasy calm following the killing of two Mamprusi men in Bawku when he shot by the military men. We have been orphaned by the military that have been mandated to defend the territorial integrity of the state of Ghana and protect its citizens including our father. We consider this an extra judicial killing and a denial and naked abuse of the fundamental human rights of our father. This action of the military is to say the least absurd, unprofessional and a naked betrayal of the social contract between our late father and the state of the republic of Ghana. We the children of late Adam Kobilla demands justice from the state of Ghana for our late father and a guarantee that our education will not be put under jeopardy as a consequence of our fathers death which to all intents purposes was orchestrated by the military in Bawku. We wish to appeal to the president of Ghana His Excellency president Mills, Chief of Defense Staff (CDS), the Common Wealth Human Rights initiative (CHRI), Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) and the entire national security apparatus to investigate the circumstances of our fathers death and bring justice to bear on the perpetrator of this heinous and unprofessional action. Our late father until his murder was the district coordinator of the National Disaster Organization (NADMO) at the Garu Tempane who was unable to go to work for fear of his life. A life which eventually was taken away by the military in impunity under the guise of keeping peace in Bawku. In morning our late father we wish to repeat our call for justice by the state of Ghana for the soul of our late father, Adam Kobilla so that his innocent soul could have eternal rest.
