Clottey Trainer Dead

Boxing trainer Godwin Nii Kotey Dzanie has died in his home in Accra (James Town) on Saturday at age 56.

The experienced coach, popularly referred to as Alloway, was the trainer of former World Champion, Joshua Clottey, and the head trainer for the famous Attoh Quarshie Gym in Accra.

Typhoid Fever, which prevented him from travelling with Clottey to the US for his recent fight, was believed to have accounted for his death.

Clottey said in an interview, “His absence from my fight was one of the main reasons why I couldn’t win. I won the first four rounds and only needed Coach Alloway’s voice to tell me to change my strategy.
“I am devastated. This is very tough for me and a very painful moment.”

Boxers like Joseph Agbeko and George Ashie among others passed through his hands.
