Danger: Aburi-Accra Section Lane Closed To Traffic On Akuapim Ridge

The Ghana Highway Authority (GHA) has closed the Aburi-Accra section lane at the Akuapim Ridge as sedimentary rocks threaten to dislodge onto that section of the road.

Motorists approaching the curve on the Akuapim Ridge from Aburi towards Accra have been diverted onto the Accra-Aburi carriageway following fresh threats of sedimentary rocks falling onto that section of the road.

It is feared that motorists would be exposed to enormous danger if that section of the road is opened to them in view of the current dislodging of the rocks.

The Minister of Roads and Highways, Alhaji Inusah Fuseini said measures were underway to halt the falling rocks.

The GHA awarded the falling rocks contract to CST Ghana, but the contractor is yet to mobilise to the site.

The Chief Executive Officer of the GHA, Mr Micheal Abbey said a lot had been done over the past year in preparing the contractor to move to site.
