The Gomoa East District Assembly collected a total of GH�379,129.00 as revenue out of the projected GH�450,000.00 in 2015, representing 84 percent. Mr Jonamoah Moses Jehu-Appiah, the District Chief Executive (DCE) made this known in his maiden address he delivered at the first ordinary meeting of the Assembly at Gomoa Afransi. He said the achievement was chalked through the commitment of supervision of the late DCE Mr Isaac Kingsley Ahunu-Armah and staff of the Assembly in 2015. The DCE also attributed the achievements to the creation of a revenue taskforce in the eastern part of the District to complement the revenue collectors efforts as part of the strategic measures adopted. Mr Jehu-Appiah disclosed that the Assembly has set target of GH�550,000 internally generated fund (IGF) for the year 2016. He said the Assembly has also prepared its composite budget with the support of relevant stakeholders and this has been sent to the Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) in Cape Coast for approval. The DCE said the Assembly in collaboration with the Rural Enterprise Programme has implemented some programmes to improve local economy of the people. The programme include technological and packaging training on oil palm, capacity building on piggery farming, cassava processing and production efficiency. Others are small business management, record keeping and pricing, planning and strengthening of Association of various groups. He said the Assembly has also taken keen interest to ensure proper environmental health and sanitation management to reduce the outbreak of cholera and other communicable diseases. Mr Fred Arthur, Presiding Member of the Assembly called for cooperation, unity of purpose and understanding among members, to ensure rapid development of the District. He said the Assembly has completed and approved a three�year medium term development plan for 2014-2017 and has sent it to the National Development Planning Commission (NDPC) for assessment. He assured the members that management of the Assembly would put in place effective measures to cater for their welfare.
