A popular fetish priest in the Asante Akyem North district of the Ashanti Region has been allegedly shot by Fulani herdsmen.
The mortal remains of Okomfo Badu, the Fetish priest was found on Tuesday on his farm with his head spluttered by bullets.
Breaking the news on PEACE FM morning show ‘Kokrokoo’, N.P.P Member of Parliament for Asante Akyem North, Kwadwo Baah Agyemang bemoaned the activities of the Fulani herdsmen in Agogo.
According to him, “they intentionally set fire to people’s farm, they attack innocent farmers and sometimes even rape our ladies. They have even destroyed my farm…”
Reports Hon Baah Agyemang gathered indicated that the fetish priest went to his farm and met the Fulani herdsmen there with their cattle. He asked them to leave his farm but they were reluctant and that led to a heated argument. The next thing residents heard was gunshots.
Hon. Baah Agyemang said there is the need for government to find a lasting solution to the issue of Fulani herdsmen in the country; adding “if government cannot protect its citizen from these fulanis, how can they protect Ghanaians from the Guantanamo ex-detainees?”
