The Media Is Not Fair To Muslims - Chief Imam's Spokesperson

Media reportage on the Guantanamo ex detainees have been slammed by the office of the National Chief Imam.

According to the Spokesperson for the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Aremeyaw Shaibu, the media must be blamed for the ‘unnecessary’ brouhaha over the detainees in Ghana.

The two ex-detainees, Mahmud Umar Muhammad Bin Atef and Khalid Muhammad Salih Al-Dhuby, arrived in Ghana for a two-year stay as part of a deal reached between the United States of America and the Government of Ghana.

Their arrival has been met with some mix reactions – some Ghanaians are also in fear since the duo are allegedly linked with terrorists groups.

The media has also played a major role in digging up information on Mahmud Umar Muhammad Bin Atef and Khalid Muhammad Salih Al-Dhuby to the public.

But Sheik Aremeyaw Shaibu strongly believe that the media is not friendly to the Muslim fraternity - “The media is not fair to Muslims.

When there is any news against Islam, then the media will amplify it,” he alleged.
