Bawku Guerilla Arrested

Doubts raised by skeptics, about the authenticity of pictures of a Bawku guerilla training camp in which trainees were engaged in target practice have been laid to rest following the arrest of one of the trainees at the camp. The suspect is said to be the son of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) kingpin in the conflict zone. A police source who confirmed the story yesterday disclosed that the suspect, Sulley Issifu, aka Mr. Plan, is in the custody of the Bawku police and would be transferred to Bolgatanga, the regional capital and subsequently moved to the Police headquarters in Accra today. The suspect who was arrested in the Sabon Gari suburb of Bawku was among a number of young men being trained in the use of sophisticated assault weapons like G3 and AK 47 at a time when snipers were on the prowl, wreaking bloodshed in this conflict zone. His father has been identified at the chairman of the NDC Bawku central constituency, Alhaji Issifu. The suspect fled the town following the publication of the pictures showing him and others at the training camp, but returned after a brief stay away from the prying eyes of local inquisitive residents. A weapon training instructor at the training camp has also been identified by the Bawku Youth Development Association as a former military man. The group went further to identify other trainees in the picture. A press release signed by a certain Dauda, a citizen of the area and a member of the association, said if something is not done about the guerrilla training centre, the countrys security could be in jeopardy.
