NPP Mega Fundraising To Shake Kumasi Tomorrow

The Ashanti Regional Finance Committee/Fundraising Committee of the Opposition New Patriotic Party has indicated that all is set for the biggest ever fundraising event of the party at the Baba Yara Sport Stadium in Kumasi tomorrow.

Already, tickets for the event have been sold out, to the public, despite attempts by certain NDC hoodlums and detractors to cast a slur on the event.

Preparations at the event grounds are done, with party colours displayed in full glare, waiting to embrace the high echelons of the party on tomorrow.

All constituencies, regional and party executives are billed for the event. Kayayes, students, traders and organized youth groups will also attend the programme.

According to the regional party chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, who was speaking at a press conference yesterday, all the 47 constituencies are poised for the highly anticipated event, which will have the party’s presidential candidate, Nana Akufo-Addo, his running mate, Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia, in attendance.

To Wuntumi, the fundraising event has become necessary due to the fact that the party wants Ghanaians to have a higher stake in the party that is ready to form the next government in 2016.

In the view of Mr. Boasiako, the party believes that a government should be responsive to the needs of the people it has sworn to lead, and not a selected few, hence the focus on the masses to invest in the party.

To Chairman Wuntumi, “it was similar giving and donations in the days of Nehemiah in the Bible that collectively helped build the house of God and this is why the party believes the time to unite and build the party through giving is now.”

He denied rumours that only a few party people were aware of and involved in tomorrow’s programme. Stating that …”such tactics were even dead on arrival” and urged Ghanaians to disregard such baseless and untrue allegations from the NDC.

He disclosed further that the fundraising event was being organized by the Regional Finance and Fundraising Committees, and not by the national office.

“All that we are doing is by us and I mean the region, national is only invited to grace the occasion,” he explained. Tickets sell for GH110, 000, to as low as GH20, 00.
