Man United Keeper Warned

Manchester United goalkeeper Sergio Romero has been warned that his silver Ferrari could be seized after he was stopped by police in the city centre on Thursday evening.

The Argentine has been driving a car not registered in the UK and was stopped near the busy Deansgate area of the city.

His wife, Eliana Guercio, is said to have been with him at the time.

The 28-year-old was told that his car will be taken should he not correct the misdemeanours.A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: “Shortly after 5:20pm on Thursday 14 January 2016, police stopped a foreign registered Ferrari 314 on Victoria Street in Manchester City Centre.

“The owner is a UK resident and the car is believed to have been in the country for a number of months without being taxed or registered in the UK.
“The owner was reported to the DVLA and issued with a warning that if the car is not taxed and registered for use in the UK then it will be seized.”

Romero watched on from the bench as United drew 3-3 against Newcastle on Tuesday night and has not played in the Premier League since August.

He was utilised at the beginning of the season while David de Gea’s future was undecided, with Real Madrid close to snatching the No 1.

But he has since played understudy and that will remain the case for the remainder of the season.

Romero’s last outing came in the Capital One Cup when Championship Middlesbrough beat the Reds on penalties at Old Trafford.
