Ayariga Dragged To Antoa

The ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) is entangled in yet another fetish drama, barely a year after one of its regional chairmen, in the full glare of the media and TV cameras, invoked 30 Ashanti river-gods to kill the partys political opponents. Information reaching DAILY GUIDE indicates that this time, seven deities would strike at the Office of the President to kill or maim whoever is guilty of the GH8,000 (80 million) alleged sharing of booty to serial callers at the Castle, Osu. This follows the denial by Mr. Mahama Ayariga, Presidential Spokesperson that he (Ayariga) had dished out the cash to the ruling partys serial callers. Dr. Yaw Asemfofro, the partys most popular serial caller, who made the allegations against Mr. Ayariga last Friday, said if the former MP does not swallow the denials he made on radio over the weekend, he would tread the path taken last year by Mr. Daniel Ohene Agyekum to prove his case. But unlike the Ohene Agyekum duabo saga, which was targeted at members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Asemfofros curse is specific and would be directed at the Bawku boy. Interestingly, the curse will take place at the very spot that had been reportedly sanctified by Prophet T.B. Joshua, founder of the Synagogue Church of All Nations. Speaking to the paper on phone, Asemfofro said he had already procured all the necessary items for the historic ritual, including drinks and seven eggs, and warned that the repercussion of the curse would be swift and precise. Tell him that I am going to invoke seven gods on him if he continues to deny. Even though he gave us the money at the First Choice Hotel at Dzorwulu, I will go to the Castle and invoke the curse there right in his presence, he threatened. According to him, about three months ago, Ayariga invited them, numbering about 26 serial callers in all, to meet him at the hotel, where he handed over the money to one Mustapha to be shared among them, but that did not happen. Asked how he knew the exact amount Ayariga supposedly gave them, he said: It comprised three bundles of the GH20 notes and two bundles of GH10 notes. In fact, I even reported the matter to the Information Minister, Mrs. Zita Okaikoi. She can bear me witness. He again alleged that even though he worked most for the party when it was in opposition, he could count close to nine other serial callers who had been given state cars for their services to the party. There are many people in the party. Why should I name only Ayariga in this matter? I am coming to the castle, and if he looks at me in the eyes and denies giving us the money, I will invoke the gods to strike him, he said, adding that the serial callers who benefited from the state-car largesse include Mustapha, Hamza, Anita and Carlos. DAILY GUIDEs investigations revealed that some of the cars generating controversy in the Asemfofro saga include high profile ministerial cars in the past regime. The paper has sighted one of the Ghana@50 Chrysler cars, currently being used by an NDC serial caller, which had crushed and is now parked at the Korle-Bu Police Station. It is recalled that Asemfofro last Friday opened the can of worms and virtually went on rampage at the Castle gate when he was refused access to the Presidency to take his share of monetary allocation and cars being distributed to serial callers. He claimed that Mr. Baffoe-Bonnie, special assistant to Vice President John Mahama, had dropped his name along with other serial callers at the Castle security post with specific instructions that they should not be allowed entry to collect their share of what has become known as the spoils of war. He mentioned other serial callers whose names now dot the Castle guests list as persona non grata as Mordecai and Maa Lizzy of Tema. All of us as serial callers supported the cause of the NDC when it was in opposition and so there should be no discrimination in the distribution of benefits. Why should my name be deleted from the list of car beneficiaries when all of us worked for the party? he asked. He challenged skeptics to ask Mr. Baffour Bonnie whether his name was not deleted from the list of beneficiaries. Asked why he was being sidelined, Asemfofro said it was because of an apology he went to render to former President Kufuor after his (Asemfofros) misbehavior at the Sunyani Peoples Assembly. Mr. Antwi Boasiako, deputy Minister of Employment, who was then at Prof Mills office, queried me for apologizing to Kufuor but I find nothing wrong with that. It was Ayarigas denial, however, that further provoked the notorious serial caller to threaten to invoke the gods.
