Gitmo Detainees Transfer: Chief Imam, Christian Council Et Al Must Hold Prez Mahama Accountable - Mike Oquaye Jnr.

Prof. Mike Oquaye, Deputy Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has appealed to Christian and Muslim Community to hold President John Dramani Mahama and his government accountable for their actions.

Addressing issues regarding the two Gitmo detainees in the country, Prof. Mike Oquaye said on Peace FM's Kokrokoo that the major stakeholders in the nation should not lose oversight over the administration of President John Mahama because the President keeps lying to Ghanaians.

According to him, President Mahama in his press briefing at the Flagstaff House lied to Ghanaians that the government had assessed the Gitmo detainees and found out they were of low risk to the country before admitting them.

Contrary to the President's information to the citizenry, our intelligence picked that the government never assessed the Gitmo detainees as were the claims by President John Mahama; Prof. Mike Oquaye told host Kwami Sefa Kayi.

“Either President John Mahama was not well briefed by the Americans or President Mahama deceived Ghanaians. Either one of it is not good enough...We should not take this lying down, for the President to deceive us in broad daylight on such a matter…President John Mahama, what you said is inconsistent with what has happened. What you said and what happened is completely opposite. This is a serious matter.

“I’m urging all Parliamentarians, senior citizens of Ghana, Christian Council, Imam; all of you are leaders in this country. You must start to hold leaders accountable. They cannot come and tell us what they like and find out that what they told us is untrue.”
