The Head of Programs at the African Center for Security and Counter Terrorism has described as "disheartening" the way and manner in which some opposition political parties have handled the hosting of the two Guantanamo ex detainees in Ghana.

According to Emmanuel Kotin on NEAT FM’s Me Man Nti , “...it is disheartening to hear the way some political parties have managed the information on the two Gitmo detainees in spite of the fact that they were informed by the USA”.

“All the heads of the political parties were consulted and briefed by the US Embassy on the issue even before Ghana government decided on whether or not to take in these ex detainees so some of us are dispirited by their stance on the matter”.

This comes on the back of similar assertions by another Security Expert Irbard Ibrahim that the leader of the biggest opposition party was was consulted on the controversial decision to accept two former terror suspects into.

“I can tell you on authority that Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo based on my contacts, that he was duly informed about the arrival of the Gitmo guys more than six months before they touched down in Accra,” he said.

He further disputed public claims that government failed to consult broadly on the controversial decision to bring in the terror suspects, Atef and Al Dhuby.
