CHANGE 2016: A National Responsibility

With reddened and teary eyes, I write:

“Change is the Only Constant”, Heraclitus declares.

Prof. Stephen Adei once said, “Leadership is Cause; Everything Else is effect.”

Feel it coming in the air, and DO NOT see it as a change to prosper one group, instead, one to alleviate poverty for all once again.

The “kayayie” were right.

Yes! The NPP without any receipt from oil, did it with diligence, discipline, dedication, selflessness, equity in development, and quality leadership.

In the long run, it’s leader- John Agyekum Kufuor, became a “World Food Prize” laureate for good governance, and for halving abject poverty in Ghana.

An award ONLY two heads of state in the whole world could win.

The NPP brought us pride and dignity. Under its leadership, the world invited Ghana to G-8 roundtable discussions. We weren’t invited for negotiations on a dumping site for some hardcore terrorists somewhere in Ghana.

Ghana was too peaceful, stable, and progressive for such ‘below the belt’ contracts.

If it had to be negotiations in the 8 years of Kufuor’s unmatched leadership, it had to be on:

1. Oil exploration and production in commercial quantities
2. Accessing the MCA facility for infrastructure development
3. Accessing HIPC funding
4. Accessing funding from the World Bank for Cocoa Mass Spraying Program
5. Discussions on establishing NHIS
6. Accessing funding from the Dutch, Canada, USAID and allied partners for a School Feeding Program
7. Accessing funding for Free Maternal Care
8. Introduction of Metro Mass Transit
9. Capitation Grant
10. Establishing and creating modules for NYEP
11. Ways of instituting a single Spine Salary Structure
12. Plans to create a fund for SMEs-MASLOC
13. Looking for alternative and lasting solutions to our energy inadequacies, etc.

We all know the results of these productive meetings and thinking:
We found oil.

We created jobs.
We created a business enabling environment.
Individuals and SMEs had easy access to credit.
We built state of the art roads- Aburi etc.
This is what Ghanaians hope to see.

And, by the same trust and assurance in an NPP led government under the leadership of Nana Akufo Addo, same methodology SHALL be employed to raise funding for Free SHS, cure the sick NHIS and entire rebuilding of our ailing economy; and not some lazy and clueless managers sitting in their whims and caprices, and offering lip services and lies, propaganda and fabrications, spinning and excuses; and have failed Ghanaians from agriculture to security.

The NDC government has scored 100% in proving to be the absolute opposite to the aspirations of Ghanaians.

I ask, if due to bad governance we cannot live our normal happy lives, shouldn’t we sleep peacefully too? This government has robbed us of our blessed resources to enrich themselves, friends and families all over the world.

From SADA, SUBAH, through Woyome to SMARTY; your guess is as right as mine.

Let’s gracefully accept that, we are the cause of this mess, by offering our mandate to the NDC. But, console one another that the opportunity to cause a massive shake-up stares closely in our faces once again.

As much as I share in our grief and sorrow, I also advise that; as we line up at the polls in November, be reminded of the horror and misery we’ve gone through, and just vote CHANGE.

God is on our side; the whole world is watching BUT we MUST ARISE.

Resist oppressors rule!
Resist the NDC!
Resist Mahama!

This is what our national anthem entreats us. Be bold and make this change a reality with deeds and votes and NOT words.

Make the same bravery we displayed in year 2000 prevail, and never kowtow to any form of intimidation as we match along to victory. No individual or institution can subvert the sovereignty of our state.

Freedom is coming again!
Prosperity is coming again!
Safety is coming again!
Comfort is coming again!

May God help, protect and free Ghana from the claws of this nefarious government! God bless Ghana!
