Robbers Strip Police Boss Naked

A group of armed robbers over the weekend allegedly stripped the Deputy Upper West Regional Police Commander, ACP Williams Asekey, of his uniform, leaving him in underwear only. The police boss, visibly shaken by the threats on his life, immediately threw up his arms in response to the orders of the six well-armed assailants on the Tumu-Gwollu road in the Sissala West district of the region. Four vehicles, whose owners were ye tot be identified, were among those lined up by the robbers who ransacked and took away every valuable asset including cash, found on the stranded passengers. The Deputy Police Commander and his team constituted a committee charged by the Regional Security Council (REGSEC) to investigate the recent impasse in Gwollu that claimed one life and injured two others, the Daily Guide newspaper gathered. The police team chanced upon the robbery scene while returning from an assignment and the commander was quickly identified following his vehement resistance to the orders of the robbers. Other occupants readily obliged and were asked to lie prostrate but the commander was directed to remove his official uniform before engaging in any confrontation with the bandits in order to have his life spared. For fear of joining his ancestors, reports indicate that the police chief, with the speed of lightning, stripped himself of his official attire and waited for further directives. The six robbers, wielding AK 47 assaults rifles and other sophisticated weapons, were determined to eliminate anyone who dared resist their orders. Having succeeded in robbing occupants of the vehicles, they sped off in a blue-black Pajero belonging to one of the victims. The get-away vehicle was later abandoned under a shea butter-tree. It was unclear whether or not the uniform of the naked high ranking police officer was later returned to him. Earlier last month, there was a clash between detailed police officers and residents of Gwollu over a mobile phone, leading to the loss of one life. The incident prompted the REGSEC to set up a committee to investigate the circumstances surrounding the clash. It was while returning from one of such fact-finding mission that the police boss was given the unimaginable treatment by the armed robbers.
