Editor-in-Chief of the Insight newspaper Kwesi Pratt has called on government to arrest the faces behind the alleged leaked information from the seat of Government on social media.
Speaking on Peace FM's Kokrokoo, Kwesi Pratt said the act by the unknown perpetrators is criminal and so they should not go scot free.
He alluded to some similar incidents where social media fanatics abuse their right through the platform, citing an instant where President John Mahama was photo shopped to mislead the public.
This trend, he noted, is becoming disturbing and a nuisance to national security.
“This is the commission of a crime. This is a clear commission of a crime where rules about non-disclosure of sources [do] does not apply. It’s akin to catching someone engaging in theft and you refuse to name him. Because if you don’t name and so on; the speculations will go on. It will become a political game and we will never find who is doing this.
“If this has occurred and we know the person behind it, then we must apprehend the person and ensure the person faces the full rigors of the law because it has very dangerous consequences. If you succeed in destroying the credibility of the Ghanaian media, what is left? How can we have peaceful elections when the media’s credibility is destroyed? How can we even have economic development when the media’s credibility is destroyed and so on?”
