I Don't See How Mahama Will Reshuffle Hanna Tetteh With Spio As Foreign Mins. - Pratt

Managing Editor of the Insight newspaper, Kwesi Pratt has asserted that President John Dramani Mahama will never ask Dr Ekwow Spio-Garbrah to replace Hanna Serwaa Tetteh as the Foreign Affairs Minister in any ministerial reshuffle.

Kwesi Pratt, speaking on Kokrokoo on Peace FM, stressed that political appointment is near "impossible".

He was commenting on the alleged leaked statement which was released on Thursday purporting another ministerial reshuffle undertaken by President Mahama.

The report read that Dr. Spio Garbrah had been appointed as Foreign Affairs Minister with Hon. Hanna Tetteh sent to the Ministry of Gender and Social Protection.

Other names were Hon. Lee Ocran as Labour and Employment Minister, John Jinapor as Power Minister and Kwesi Awhoi as Defence Minister among others.

Though government functionaries have denied the report, Mr. Pratt believes the report would have been credible apparently if Dr. Spio Garbrah's name wasn't listed to the Foreign Ministry.

“If you hear that President John Dramani Mahama has removed Hanna Tetteh from the Foreign Ministry and replaced her with Ekow Spio Garbrah as Foreign Minister, you are to realize that it’s impossible," he stated.

His comments seems to have not gone down well a Special Aide to Dr. Spio Garbrah, Naziru Mohammed who registered his displeasure by calling into the programme.

Naziru, who claimed he had his boss's permission to butt in, described the seasoned journalist's remarks as smacking of mischief.

But in a quick riposte, Mr. Pratt refused to retract his words, questioning the logic in Spio Garbrah's intervention.

“Is it a crime (for me to say) I don’t see any good reason in removing Hanna Tetteh for Spio Garbrah? Is this my crime?” he quizzed.

"If he (Spio's Aide) has good reasons why we should remove Hanna Tetteh and supplant her with Spio, let him say it. As for me, i don't see any good reason," he added.
