Kwadwo Asamoah explains injury situation

The fit-again Ghana international gives an account of what had kept him from regularly field action

Juventus midfielder Kwadwo Asamoah has given the low-down on the series of injuries that have blighted his career for the past two years.

The 27-year-old has been in and out of action, playing only 11 league games for the Old Lady since the 2014-15 season due to niggling injuries.

“What I know about this injury is that, it’s one of the worst injuries in football because it takes long to heal,” Asamoah told Metro TV.

“Having stayed out for so many months, it takes time for the muscles to work and become like they were before.

“I came back, started playing some games, training with the team, but with all these, sometimes, you feel a different problem, not with the knee but sometimes with the thigh, calf, etc.

“But I’ve been able to sail through so I’m happy to be back.”

The Ghana international had been out of action between November 2014 and May 2015 after undergoing a surgical operation to correct a troublesome knee problem.

Upon his May return in a 3-1 defeat of Napoli, the former Liberty Professionals man suffered a relapse, keeping him on the sidelines until a cameo in a 3-1 win over Bologna last October – his first match of the new season.

He again suffered a muscle sprain in a 2-0 win over Atalanta three weeks later, and only made a return last December in a 2-0 triumph over Lazio.
