Drivers Recklessness On Kwahu Scarp

This heavily loaded KIA truck with registration number GE 827-Y was chocked on the Obomeng-Nkawkaw road on the Kwahu scarp to prevent it from falling into the valley, at the weekend.

This compelled other vehicles from the opposinte side of the road to stop for hours to avert an accident.

The Eastern Regional Police Commander, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Angwubutoge Awuni, made this known to The Ghanaian Times.

The Regional Police Commander said he was in the company of the Nkawkaw Divisional Police Commander, Chief Superintendent James Safo Peprah, on a visit to inspect projects for the Ghana Police Service in the area, when he witnessed the scene.

He said the vehicle, which was over-loaded, nearly fell into the valley, but for the timely intervention of the two mates, who used a wooden chock to prevent the vehicle from tipping over.

(DCOP) Angwubutoge Awuni advised drivers to regularly maintain their vehicles and stop over-loading their vehicles, especially those using the Kwahu Mountains. He advised vehicle owners and drivers to regularly maintain their vehicles because they hold the lives of passengers.

DCOP Awuni ordered the Divisional Police Commander to impound all such vehicles and arrest the drivers.
