NDC Holds Strategic Meeting

The National chairman of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Kofi Porturphy, has stated that the ‘Agenda 50/50’ and ‘Operation 1 million votes’ targets set by the party in the Eastern and Ashanti Regions are achievable.

According to him, the targets set in the two regions are very crucial to the victory of the party during the 2016 elections and therefore pledged the support of the national executives in terms of resource mobilisation to ensure the realisation of the targets.

The national chairman said this on Thursday when addressing national executives at a workshop in Koforidua, the Eastern regional capital.

“I am strengthened and encouraged that in the Eastern Region we have an ‘Agenda 50/50’ and that agenda must work not only for Eastern Region, but for the party as a whole. Also, with the operation 1 million votes in the Ashanti Region, as a chairman I pledge to support this with the resources needed to achieve the goals.”

Mr Porturphy called on all regional ministers to support the regional election directorate to ensure that they deliver to the benefit of the party.

He said the NDC government led by President John Dramani Mahama has demonstrated its commitment to improving the living standards of Ghanaians by providing the needed infrastructural projects such as school building, roads, provision of water and expansion of electricity among many others.

He said the NDC has very high hopes that the electorate will retain the party in power in November, but urged party supporters and executives to work hard.

The majority leader in parliament, Alban Bagbin, called on the party to be vigilante on Election Day because elections are won at the polling stations. He urged party functionaries to also be mindful of their utterances during the campaign season.

The workshop will be used to reflect on previous elections, educate members on the new law being implemented by the Electoral Commission and strategise ahead of the 2016 elections.
