Mason receives third jail sentence

Fianko Isaac, 19, a mason and a friend, Addo Nartey, 22, have been sentenced to a total of 42 months in jail each for two burglaries and Fianko, in addition, received a jail term of 18 months for a third burglary. In all the three burglaries, the victims were teachers and the suspects pleaded guilty to the offence. Asked by the Presiding Magistrate of the Kade Magistrate Court, Mr Kweku Baah Frimpong, why all the target of his burglary were teachers, Fianko replied that he had nothing against teachers though he was frequently beaten for not doing well at school. Consequently, he dropped out of school at JSS One. Fianko explained that, the teachers said he should have performed better since his father was a teacher. Fianko on his third burglary, stole a DVD player, a tape recorder, a Motorola mobile phone and two tubers of yam, among other items belonging to Mr Isaac Nkansah, a teacher at Asuom. Police Chief Inspector Tetteh Zorh, told the court that on August 28, the complainant woke up at about 0430 hours to find that someone had entered his room and stolen a number of items. He suspected Fianko who had by then fled Asuom and reported the case to the police. Shortly thereafter, Fianko was arrested at Bomso for another theft with items which were later identified by the complainant to be his. When questioned, Fianko accepted responsibility for stealing the items of the complainant.
