Teacher jailed 300 months for sodomy

A 35-year old teacher, accused of sodomy has been jailed for 25 years by a Kumasi Circuit Court Ferdinand Kofi Anokye, pleaded not guilty to the charge of sodomizing two young boys aged 10 and 12. Police Chief Inspector Comfort Baffour-Kyei told the Court presided over by Mr Emmanuel Amoh-Yartey that, the victims are both pupils of the Christian Preparatory School whilst the convict teaches at the Living Waters School, all at Anomangye, a suburb of Kumasi. Some time in August, last year, Anokye approached the parents of the two children and convinced them to allow him to provide them with tuition on part time basis. She said in early December 2008, the convict sent the 10 year-old child to buy him gari and beans and on his return lured the innocent boy into his room and forcibly sodomized him. Anokye warned the victim not to tell anyone about it. Police Chief Inspector Baffour-Kyei said on the eve of Christmas that same year, the convict used the same trick on the second victim. This time, he ran out of luck, as the boy informed his father about his ordeal and a formal report was made to the Suame Police. It was during police investigations that the earlier offence was also uncovered. Anokye, who disappeared after the crime, was arrested at his Bohyen hideout on September 8, this year.
