Be Ready To Pay More If . . . CEO of Korle-Bu

The Chief Executive Officer of the Korle- Bu Teaching Hospital (CEO), Dr Gilbert Buckle has warned of a serious financial fall-out in the health sector, if government holds on to its decision to withdraw support for some state owned hospitals capable of surviving on their own.

He said Korle-Bu may be forced to demand full cost for health care when taken off government intervention.

He noted that, “Members of parliament and government at large should be prepared when the fall-out is implicated, because it means that the actual cost of care which is about 23 times of what we pay as hospitals cost when we are treated would be paid in full due to the fall-out in government intervention for salaries, capital investment and the others which fall under governments intervention.”

He also indicated that Ghanaians should be ready and prepared to pay more if government goes ahead to withdraw support for state hospitals, since it would have effect on every individual and the population at large.
