Ayarigas APC Will Soon Get Its License To Operate Aide Assures

Aide to Hassan Ayariga, Kwadwo Poku has said his boss's newly formed party, All People’s Congress (APC) will soon get its license to operate fully.

He described as “unfortunate” leakage of the party’s logo – “even we are not done with the logo and someone leaked it. The logo in the media is not the final work.”

According to him, the party is in the process of getting the necessary documents from the Electoral Commission to operate fully as a political party after denying earlier claims that the party has been registered.

His comment comes after the EC denied granting permission for any new political party to start operating this year.

Release from the commission, signed by acting Director of Public Affairs, Christian Owusu-Parry said that the commission has not registered any political party this year.

“The Electoral Commission wishes to inform the general public that, contrary to reports in the media, the Commission has not registered any political parties this year…,” portions of the release read.

The release is said to be in reference to media reports that the former Presidential Candidate of the People’s National Convention (PNC), Hassan Ayariga has formed a new party, All People’s Congress (APC).

The report continued that the EC is set to issue Mr. Ayariga with a temporal license as they proceed to verify the credibility of the proposed party.

But the EC said it is yet to register any political party this year - “The commission further wishes to clarify that the persons who apply for registration of political parties have several requirements which must be met under the Political Parties Act 2000 (Act 574). Until these requirements have been met and a party had been issued with a final registration certificate, the party seeking registration cannot conduct its activities as a political party,” the statement continued.

Speaking to NEAT FM’s morning show 'Ghana Montie', Kwadwo Poku assured that APC will soon meet all requirements by the EC to secure its license to contest the 2016 polls.
