Houses At Agbogba To Be Demolished

More than 20 houses built illegally on the course of the Odaw stream which passes through Cosway Down, a suburb of Agbogba at North Legon, will have to be demolished. The demolishing of the houses is to enable excavation and desilting work to be carried out to enable the Odaw stream flow freely in the area. This was made known to journalists by officials of the Hydrological Services Department when the Deputy Minister of Water Resources, Works and Housing, Dr. Louisa Hannah Bisiw inspected some ongoing emergency flood relief drainage works in some parts of Accra. These include the construction of a GH100,000 bridge of American House at East Legon, the desilting of 1.8km stretch of the Odaw stream at Haatso as well as excavation and desilting of the Odaw stream at Atomic. Dr. Hannah Bisiw urged the contractors of the various projects to work hard to complete the projects on time. She also expressed concern about the level of indiscipline of those who have built houses on the water courses of the Odaw stream.
