Mayweather Hints Come Back

Floyd Mayweather has claimed he rejected ‘crazy numbers’ to return to the boxing ring.

The man who calls himself ‘The Best Ever’ fought against Andre Berto in September last year after taking on Manny Pacquiao four months before in what was the most lucrative fight in history.

Mayweather has previously said that he earned hundreds of millions of dollars for beating his Filipino rival, and told the BBC that he is being offered ‘nine-figure’ sums to fight again.
But, while the 38-year-old American insisted he is still very much retired, he also offered a teasing glimpse of the potential for a change of heart, saying: ‘As of right now, I am out completely.’

Many expect Mayweather to fight one more time – one more win would extend his career record to 50 unbeaten fights and beat Rocky Marciano’s long-standing record of 49.

Mayweather beat the unfancied Berto by unanimous decision in Las vegas last time out.

‘If I do get the itch to come back, it really won’t be for the money but I have to get paid,’ said the welterweight world champion. ‘That’s why the nickname is Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather.’
The Michigan-born superstar is currently in the midst of a world tour following his retirement. He has taken in spots throughout Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Now he has embarked on the British leg of his tour, with official dates forthcoming in Bristol, London, Glasgow, Sheffield, Bolton, Birmingham and Bedford.

Mayweather has claimed he is now solely focused on promoting fights rather than pulling on the gloves, and is lining up one of his stable, WBC super-middleweight champion Badou Jack, against Britain’s IBF champion James DeGale.
