Chief Justice & 3 Other High-Profile Personalities Honoured

Chief Justice (Mrs) Georgina Theodora Wood, was on Wednesday honoured alongside three others by the Faculty of Law, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST),Kumasi for their contribution to legal education and practice in Ghana. They are Mrs. Betty Mould-Iddrisu, Attorney-General and Minister of Justice and the Reverend Professor Emmanuel Hanson Ofori-Amankwaah, Foundation Dean of the KNUST Law Faculty. The late Professor Kwesi Andam, former Vice-Chancellor of University, the other personality on the list, was honoured posthumously. They received Certificates and Citations. The event coincided with the inauguration of the Ghana Institute of Advanced Legal Studies (GIALS), a legal scholarship and research-oriented institution affiliated to the University�s Law Faculty. Professor Kwasi Kwafo Adarkwa, the Vice-Chancellor, praised them for the hard work and individual contribution towards the establishment of the faculty. They have, in addition, put their rich experiences at the disposal of legal practice and helped in deepening the legal system for the benefit of Ghana�s democracy. Mrs. Mould-Iddrisu thanked the Faculty for the honour. She underscored the need for University Authorities to work hard and ensure that law faculties are established in their various institutions to assist train more legal brains. The Attorney-General said such faculties should also provide the platform for building linkages between research, legal policy and national development. She expressed optimism that the KNUST Law Faculty would continually come out with innovative programmes to enhance legal practice in the country.
