President John Evans Atta Mills has called on the Judiciary to maintain its independence, live above reproach and be impartial in the discharge of its duties.
Swearing-in eight new High Court Judges at the Osu Castle, he reminded Judges to ensure justice for all and adopt actions that would obliterate the negative perception against the Judiciary.
They were: Mr Justice Kwame Ohene�Essel, Mr Justice Eric Baah, Mr Justice Abdullah Iddrisu, Mr Justice Iddrisu Mahamadu, Mr Justice Anthony Kwadwo Yeboah, Mr Justice Charles Gyamfi Danquah, Mrs Justice Elizabeth Ankumah and Mrs Justice Gifty Dekyem.
President Mills urged them to dispense justice with the greatest sense of impartiality, respect and make their promotions a new era in their profession. He stressed that the Executive will not stifle the work of the Judiciary, but will rather help the judiciary to be more independent.
Mrs Georgina Theodora Wood, Chief Justice entreated the judges to work assiduously for the confidence reposed in them. She also urged them not to delay cases, since the public has been expressing disgust at the practice.
She also urged them to protect the constitution, uphold the truth and be impartial in the discharge of their duties.
