Medeama Record Lone Goal Victory To Lift Super Cup

Medeama Sporting Club emerged winners of the FA Super Cup after managing to pip defending league champions Ashanti Gold by a goal to nil.

The match was dominated by the winners of the FA Cup but offered little by way of goalmouth action from both sides in the opening 45 minutes.

The second half saw Ash Gold intensify their search for goal but still failed to properly test Muntari Tagoe between the sticks for Medeama.

However, they were left red-faced after the referee disallowed Freddy Quayson’s goal in the 80th minute on suspicion of offside.

Bernard Ofori capitalized on some sloppy Ash Gold defending, latching unto a pass in the 85th minute to score with a volley from close range.

Ashanti Gold did not hide their dismay over the disallowed goals as they walked off without picking up their medals when the referee brought proceedings to an end.
