Bekoe Gutted At Botched Hearts of Oak Move, Slams Board As Unprofessional

Sekondi Hasaacas new signing Eric Bekoe has descended heavily on the Hearts of Oak board after the Accra-based club ended the pursuit of the former Kotoko goal poacher abruptly.

The 29-year-old’s move to the rainbow club could not see light of day although both parties  began negotiations and agreed personal terms during the just ended Ghana transfer window.

It has now been revealed Hearts of oak snubbed Eric Bekoe for Samuel Yeboah due to the former’s past affiliation with the Porcupine warriors, a decision which infuriates Bekoe.

‘So I called my agent and asked him if he has read what is on the internet. And he was like, yeah, I just saw it. I’m also surprised,” he told Takoradi-based Empire FM.

“Let me call Frank Nelson and ask him what is going on because they [hearts of oak board] told us they were going to get back to us.

“After speaking to him {Frank Nelson}, he told me, man your boy’s [Samuel Yeboah] issue has created a big problem in the management.

“Now it seems half side wants them to sign the boy, the other side too doesn’t want Eric to play.

“They were thinking I have played Kotoko before so I won’t give my best when they sign me.’ He told ‘And you know in a professional league, I don’t see why people should think like that.

“You can’t be working at ECG and be taking your salary from Ghana water and Sewage Corporation.

“If I’m playing for hearts of oak and I’m to meet Kotoko, why shouldn’t I give my best?’

‘I’m being paid by Hearts of Oak, so I have to do everything possible to give hearts of oak a reason why they bought me.

“I’m a fan of kotoko but that doesn’t mean when I get kotoko I have to be lenient with them. I’m in for business and when it’s business time, it‘s business’

Bekoe endeared himself to the Kotoko fans and management after scoring 17 goals in 23 appearances in the 2007/8 Ghana premier league to win the top scorer award.

He completed his move to Sekondi Hasacaas on transfer deadline day.
