Abuakwa North In A State Of Shock

The murder of the Member of Parliament (MP) for Abuakwa North, Mr Joseph Boakye Danquah Adu, affectionately called JB, has thrown the people in his hometown Akyem Tafo into a state of shock.

The MP was stabbed by some unknown assailants in the early hours of Tuesday at his Shiashie residence in Accra.

When the Ghana News Agency visited Akyem Tafo, on Tuesday, most of the people were clad in either red or black. Other mourners wore T-shirts bearing JB's portrait with red arm and head bands.

Nana Yaw Kyere, the Tafo Amankrado, told the GNA that the death of JB was a big tragedy to the family.

He said they were convinced that JB had no issues with anybody that could warrant his death in such manner.

Madam Abena Acheampomaa, the Sister of the late MP, said she spoke to her brother on Monday evening but the brother told her he was in a meeting, so he would call her back, shortly. However, he never returned the call.

She said she heard the news of his passing at dawn and hurriedly rushed out to inform his elder brother.

Mr Douglas Asare, the Abuakwa North Constituency Chairman of the New Patriotic Party, said he heard the sad news but he never believed it.

He said he immediately sent some party executives to Accra who later confirmed JB's death.

Madam Akosua Nyantakyiwaa, a 74 year-old who wept bitterly, told the GNA JB was ready to fund her surgical operation.
