Student, Others Nabbed For Robbery

Three persons, including a student, have been arrested by the police for allegedly robbing a taxi driver at Coaltar, near Nsawam, in the Eastern Region. 

The suspects, Ebenezer Owusu, 41,  a contractor, Emmanuel Kwame, 23 a student of the City Business College in Accra, and Ohene Yekwah Yeboah, 37, driver, are in the custody of the police assisting in investigations.

They were reported to have attacked their victim, Daniel Owusu, 26, with a locally manufactured gun and robbed him of his vehide.

Two other accomplices who are yet to be identified and currently on the run and are being sought by the police.

The out-going, Nsawam District Police Commander, Superintendent Magnus R. Sam, who disclosed these to The Ghanaian Times here yesterday, said that on February 10, at about 3:30pm Kwame hired the service of the driver from Nsawam Mobil station to Coaltar.

Supt. Sam stated that on reaching Coaltar, he told the driver he wanted his friend (Yeboah), to join him in the taxi which he obliged.

He said on reaching a place near the Saint Martin’s Senior High School the two passengers asked the driver to stop the vehicle to enable them join their truck which was parked by Owusu, to which he again obliged.
