Magistrate involved in road accident

Activities at the Half Assini District Magistrate�s Court in the Jomoro District has been suspended indefinitely, due to the involvement of its magistrate in a lorry accident at Ahobre junction near Half Assini at the weekend. Assistant Superintendent of Police, Iddrisu Tanko Issifu, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in an interview that Mr. Prince Cudjoe, was driving back to Half Assini in his ford saloon car with registration number AS 1301S around 8pm on Sept 12, when the victim�s car had a head on collusion with a Kia truck with registration number AS 2278W, bound for Enchi in the Western Region. ASP Issifu said the truck which was returning from a weekly market at Jewi Wharf near Half Assini was overtaking a stationary car in a sharp curve at Ahobre junction, when it veered of its lane and crashed headlong into the saloon car. Mr. Cudjoe who had a fracture on his right thigh has been referred from the Eikwe hospital to a hospital in Koforidua for further observation and treatment. Mr. Eric Amoah, an Assistant Registrar of the Magistrate�s Court, told the GNA that Mr. Cudjoe has been transferred and he was waiting for his reliever to report before the accident occurred. He said due the incident, the court will go on a break till the newly posted magistrate assumes duty. He said all criminal cases in the district will be tried at the Axim Municipal Court.
