Two-day seminar to prepare graduates for Job Market

A two-day training seminar aimed at equipping graduates with the requisite skills and knowledge of the job market to enable them to seek opportunities in the banking and other financial services sectors of the economy has been held in Accra. Organized by Shelley Investments Management Limited, an industrial consultancy firm, the training seminar which was the fourth in the series, aimed at preparing the 35 participants not only to apply for jobs but also to create self-employment opportunities. Some of the course contents included career development, banking operations, banking fraud detection, recruitment and selection process, employment and selling skills. The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Shelley Investments, Mr. Shelley Amos, in an address, said it was unfortunate that most university graduates were finding it difficult to secure jobs despite the good academic qualifications they had obtained. He said inadequate preparations and the lack of skills to meet the demands of the job market had contributed to most graduates being found wanting at job interviews. It is to address this void that Shelley Investments and management has embarked upon this training seminar for the young graduates to enable them to realize a bright future, he said. The consultancy firm, Mr. Amos said, was interested in making the participants more attractive for the competitive job market. He said so far, more than 250 graduates from the universities and other tertiary institutions have benefited from similar training. The Shelley Investments CEO announced plans by his firm to expand the training programme to other parts of the country.
