Poor parenting, reason for upsurge in social vices- Fr Koimb

Reverend Father Francis Koimb, Assistant Parish Priest in-charge of Saint Arnold Janssen Parish at Kranka of Techiman Catholic Diocese has attributed the upsurge of social vices among the youth to poor parenting and neglect. Preaching at the church, the Parish Priest expressed regret that a number of parents had shirked their responsibilities to the children and this had allowed them to go wayward. He expressed worry about how some parents spend huge sums of money on funerals, alcoholism and merry making instead of spending those monies on their childrens education. Rev. Fr. Koimb reminded parents that the only legacy they could bequeath to their children was quality education, and urged them to channel much of their resources into that direction, so that their children would grow to acquire gainful employment. He admonished parents to provide their children with the basic necessities of life including their educational needs, to encourage them to be serious with their education. Rev. Fr. Koimb urged the youth particularly those in the church to live exemplary lives for others to emulate, and advised members of the church to allow the teachings they received to reflect in their daily lives. He reminded the youth that they were the future leaders of the state and advised them to concentrate on their books and eschew all forms of practices that could put their lives in danger.
