A Municipal Chief Executive has appealed Muslim youth to take secular education more seriously to bridge the gap between them and their non-Muslim counterparts in formal education. Mr Mohammed Boakye Agyeman, Ejisu-Juaben Municipal Chief Executive, said even though it was good for Muslim children to have Islamic education that should not be at the expense of the formal system, which would open many avenues for them in terms of future employment opportunities. He gave the advice when he interacted with pupils of Juaben Islamic Primary School. He also met pupils of the Ejisu M/A Experimental Primary, Ejisu Presbyterian Primary, Ejisu R/C Primary, Juaben Methodist Primary, Juaben M/A 1 and 2 Primary and Juaben Presbyterian Primary schools. Mrs Agnes Okyere Gyamfi, the Municipal Education Director, commended the government for interventions at making education more attractive to pupils and urged teachers to be at school always to instil discipline in their pupils. In addition, the teachers should make the school environment more conducive for effective learning. Mr Agyeman later distributed exercise books, pencils, toffees and toys to the pupils.
