A member of the Council of Elders of the opposition NPP, Akenteng Appiah Menka, says he and some other leading members of the party, have received threatening text messages, and has lodged a formal complaint with the Police. According to the NPP stalwart, he received the text message at about 11:30am on Thursday, threatening him and six others, with death. Speaking to PEACEFM NEWS, he said the message described the 7, including himself, as �Ashanti Mafia�s� and a stumbling block of the ruling NDC against victory in 2012. �From a credible source, armed robbers will come to you to eliminate you to pave way for the NDC to win power in 2012,� portions of the message read. The threatened �Ashanti Mafias� include Nana Juabenhene, Dr. Donkor Fodjuor, former Defence and Interior Minister Dr. Kwame Addo Kufuor, Minority Leader, Hon. Osei-Kyei Mensah-Bonsu, MP for Manhyia, Hon. Matthew Opoku Prempeh a.k.a Napo and Dr. Amoako Tuffour. Mr Appiah Menka, who claimed that throughout his political career, spanning some 50 years, he had �never experienced anything of that nature before,� said he has made a report at the Police Headquarters.
